DANCERS UNDER MY LENS: ESSAYS IN BALLET CRITICISM.

London: C.W. Beaumont, 1949. Illustrated With Photographs. First Edition. Signed presentation from Beaumont on the front endpaper: "For Helen Chase, Just to wish you bon voyage and au revoir on her return to New York, Cyril Beaumont. October 30, 1953." The former owner believes Helen Chase is the author of music books, including "Five Finger Patterns On Hymn Tunes For The Piano." We have not verified this connection, however. Cyril W. Beaumont [1891-1976] was a British dance historian, critic, technical theorist, translator, bookseller, and publisher. He is the author of more than forty books on ballet and is considered one of the most important dance historians of the twentieth century. 8vo., blue cloth in dust jacket; 160 pages. Item #56710

Good (some light staining covers with little moisture damage to top of pages- mostly wrinkles, not soil; few very tiny brown spots first few pages); wear (small chips & tears, some dampstain rear cover, scuff on spine, front flap reattached using clear, archival tape) d/j.
