“The Red Doe” is a dramatic novel of South Carolina when The Swamp Fox stalked the British. Katherine Drayton Mayrant Simons was born in Charleston, South Carolina. A graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she began her literary career as a poet and her verses appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, Sea Stories, The New York Times, and other publications. Katherine wrote under the pseudonyms Drayton Mayrant and Kadra Maysi and is the author of nine novels. She died in 1969 in Charleston, South Carolina. Book Club Editions of this title are common but the trade edition is not- plus her autograph is also scarce. Small 8vo., two-toned boards in dust jacket; 278 pages. Item #56874
