The biography of Pugh, who grew up on the frontier in Wyoming and went on to advance the frontiers of science and technology. Signed presentation from Pugh on the front endpaper: "To my long time friends, Arnold & Mabel Beckman. Emerson M. Pugh." Arnold Orville Beckman was an American scientist who founded Beckman Instruments based on his invention of the pH meter in 1934. He also funded the first transistor company, which gave rise to Silicon Valley. A nice association and uncommon to find a signed copy!
