Signed presentation from Mendelson on a front blank page, to a fellow literary critic: "For Professor Maxwell Geismar, my name probably does not mean anything to you. But I hope this book of mine will be of some interest to you... Both of us lost in 1976 our good friends- W. Lowenfels and J. North. My warmest wishes for the New Year. M. Mendelson. Dec. 1976." With a laid-in printed slip stating that the book is from Geismar's library. Geismar [1909-1979] was an American author, literary critic, and biographer who was a professor at Sarah Lawrence College, in Yonkers, NY, for many years. He also wrote the introduction for Eldridge Cleaver's "Soul Of Ice" and signed the "Triple Revolution" statement sent to President Johnson in 1964. A nice association copy and books signed by Mendelson are uncommon. Very Good (little soil covers & bit of browning last few pages); some edgewear & rubbing d/j. $125.00.
