[HARPER'S WEEKLY]. LIFE-SAVING. SHIPWRECK: WRECK OF THE METIS. An 11-inch by 16-inch print from the September 21, 1872 issue of "Harper's Weekly." The hand-colored engraving, from sketches by Theodore R. Davis, depicts a chaotic wreck scene of the steamship "Metis." Three smaller pictures across the top are entitled, "Watch Hill Boats Picking Up Survivors," "The Metis," and "The Schooner Nettie Cushing." The Metis sank in the Long Island Sound off Watch Hill, Rhode Island, on August 30, 1872. $100.00.
