Surgeon Rare-Admiral Thomas Tendron Jeans entered the Royal Navy as a surgeon in 1894 and retired in 1926. He served in the South African war of 1899-1900, in the Orange Free State, and in the Great War of 1914-1918, serving on the Dardanelles and on the Suez Canal.
