Buck issued to recognize her 80th birthday. Buck (whose maiden name is Sydenstricker) was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. She was well known for her efforts on behalf of Asian and mixed-race adoptions. “A House Divided” is the sequel to the 1932 novel “Sons,” and the third book in The House of Earth trilogy.
