Franklin Collins.” James Franklin Collins [1863-1940] and Haven Metcalf [1875-1940] were both prominent botanists and collaborated on several works, especially regarding chestnut bark disease. It was at the beginning of the 20th century when the chestnut blight began killing trees in the United States. This title is an early field guide to trees, with photographs and detailed sketches.
