GHOST STORIES OF OLD NEW ORLEANS.

NY: Rinehart & Company, Inc., [1946]. Illustrated by Charles Richards. Signed by DeLavigne on the title page. Forty stories of legend and folklore in old New Orleans- a city well-known for its ghost stories. Stories include the fascinating story of the golden brown woman who walks the roof of an old New Orleans mansion on windy December nights; the horrifying magic of the mysterious Aga Bab; the charming but chilling story of the ghost on the attic stairs; and the tale of the sadistic French lady whose slaves, murdered in cold blood, came back at night to wail and groan and give her away. This is a very rare post-war book and I have been unable to find any other first edition copies for sale in the marketplace. The book was out of print for years until it was reprinted in 2013 by Louisiana State University. 8vo., red cloth in dust jacket; 374 pages. Item #57152

Very Good (covers nice with little ding spine; contents clean & tight with small ink name ["Field"] on the front endpaper); small chips & tears (spine faded to green; price-clipped) d/j.

Price: $250.00
