REBEL ON THE TRAIL: A STORY OF THE 1837 REBELLION.

Toronto: Macmillan, 1953. Illustrated by Ruth M. Collins. First Canadian Edition. Signed presentation from Lyn on the front endpaper: "For Edwin C. Guillet, whose books made this book possible. and for Mrs. Guillet. Affectionately, Lyn Cook. September, 1953." Canadian children’s author and librarian Lyn Cook (Evelyn Waddell) was a pioneering Canadian children’s author from the 1950s to 2004. Lyn wrote 23 books for children of all ages but is best remembered for her historical novels for those ages 10-14, of which this title is one. She was born in 1918 and died in 2018 at age 100. Edwin C. Guillet [1898-1975] was a Canadian historian, author and educator. He wrote or edited about 150 books, many about the history of Ontario. Two of his best-known books are "Early Life in Upper Canada" (1933) and "Pioneer Days in Upper Canada" (1933). His book "The Lives and Times of the Patriots", about the 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion, has been extensively referenced by later historians and, obviously, used as a reference for this title. A very nice association copy! 8vo., clue cloth in dust jacket; 247 pages. Item #57182
