William Jacob Erdman [1934-1923] was a Civil War Union Army Officer. He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 2nd New York Volunteer Cavalry on December 3, 1864. On December 14, 1865 he was promoted to Chaplain of the regiment, a duty he served in until he resigned on June 10, 1865. He was a leader in the premillennialist and holiness movements of the late 19th century. His son, Charles Rosenbury Erdman Sr. [1866-1960] was an American Presbyterian minister and professor of theology at Princeton Theological Seminary.
