WORLDS IN COLLISION

London: Victor Gollancz, 1969. First English Edition, 16th printing. Velikovsky's most criticized and controversial book, it was an instant New York Times bestseller, topping the charts for eleven weeks while being in the top ten for twenty-seven straight weeks. Despite this popularity, overwhelming rejection of its thesis by the scientific community forced Macmillan to stop publishing it and to transfer the book to Doubleday within two months. The English Gollancz Edition seems to have been steadfast over the years. 8vo., blue cloth in dust jacket; 384 pages. Item #57358

Very Good (covers nice & bright; contents clean & tight); little browning spine (few tiny nicks & small chip; price-clipped) d/j.
