Nugent's first novel about a man immersed in the world of motion pictures and Broadway theater. Nugent [1896-1980] was an American actor, writer and film director. He directed Bob Hope is several of his movies and was a long-time friend of James Thurber, collaborating with him on the play "The Male Animal" in which Nugent starred on Broadway in 1940. Nugent also directed a 1942 film verion starring Henry Fonda and Olivia de Havilland. Signed presentation from Nugent on the front endpaper: "For Colonel Miller, from Elliott Nugent." Also with a one-page autograph letter signed by Nugent to Col. Miller, addressed to him at the Gypsy Trail Club in Carmel, NY. In the letter Nugent forwards this book, via Col. Tercy, and discuses a group arriving from Princeton and thanks Miller for sending his own recent book. Very Good in a nice d/j. $175.00.
