Bradford, a Boston-born biographer, poet, critic and dramatist, was sixth out of seven to be named Gamaliel Bradford in unbroken family succession. The original namesake was the great grandson of Gov. William Bradford of Plymouth Colony. The Wellesley, Mass. high school and its student newspaper are named for him. Signed presentation from Bradford to educator, author and president of Wellesley College Caroline Hazard: "Caroline Hazard with the cordial good wishes of Gamaliel Bradford. October 4, 1931." [Followed by two lines in German (untranslated) written by Bradford]. A novel in poetry and one of Bradford's more uncommon books, especially in the original dust jacket and with such a nice association.
