Tall 8vo., dark-blue cloth with gilt titles on the spine; 468 pages. First Edition. Pollak was a contributor to "The Nation" from 1874 to 1919. "The Nation" is a weekly magazine founded in 1865 and is the oldest continually published weekly magazine in the United States. Signed presentation from Pollak, to Judge Frederic Adams and his second wife, Ella, on a front blank page: "To Judge and Mrs. Adams, with warm wishes from Gustav Pollak. New York, January 13th, 1916." Adams was a judge with the New Jersey Court of Errors and Appeals. He is the father of Constance Adams, who was married to movie mogul Cecil B. DeMille. With the personal bookplate of Adams' second wife, Ella King Adams, on the front pastedown. Ella was also the name of his first wife- mother to Constance. Very Good (little scattered spotting & very light stains to covers; gilt on spine bright; contents clean & tight). An interesting association copy! $200.00.
