Signed presentation from De Chant on the half-title page: to a well-known Pentagon journalist: "12 Nov. '66, Potomac, Md. For Lloyd Norman- fellow veteran of battles galore- the Pacific- Yucca Flats and the Pentagon- with warmest personal regards to a damn good reporter- John De Chant, Colonel of the Corps." Norman was a well-known defense correspondent for "Newsweek" magazine and was admired by government officials and fellow journalists alike for his penetrating and comprehensive reporting. He died in 1987 at age 73. De Chant was awarded four battle stars and a Navy Letter of Commendation with Ribbons- his signed books are scarce!
