QUAKER QUIDDITIES, OR FRIENDS IN COUNCIL
Crosby, 1860. Item #178
[AN UNDERGRADUATE]. QUAKER QUIDDITIES; Or, Friends In Council. A Colloquy. Boston: Crosby, Nichols, Lee and Company, 1860. 12mo., brown cloth, stamped in gilt. Signed presentation from the author on the front endpaper: "Emma C. Hood [or Moon], from her kinsman the /pretended/ "Undergraduate." 1875." There are numerous ink annotations in the book, apparently by the "Undergraduate," either correcting the text or identifying characters in the work. A poetic treatise questioning some of the principles of the Society of Friends. Our research leads us to believe the author of this work may be James B. Congdon, but this has not been confirmed. Nonetheless, a unique copy of an unusual work. Near fine. $275.00.
