First Edition. Brathwaite [1878-1962] was an African-American writer, poet, literary critic and editor. In 1918, he was awarded the Spingarn Medal by the NAACP. The book is dedicated to his friend and Boston-based bookseller Andrew McCance. Signed presentation from McCance on the dedication page: "To Cassie (again), From Andrew. Christmas, 1930." With another signed presentation below: "And- with sincere regard, P.K.F. (his + mark)." With another very brief presentation on the front endpaper: "Cassie from Jim. Merry Christmas 1920." Very Good (little edgewear; contents clean & tight; several rear pages uncut). An interesting copy! $75.00.
