Pemberton [pseudonym "Reuben"] was a Missouri humorist, lawyer, newspaper editor, and world traveler. He eventually moved to Jefferson City, where he practiced law. An interesting association copy! Good (some wear covers, contents clean & tight; black crayon circles- go figure!- around the publisher's imprint at the base of the title page; around the copyright date, with $1.50 partially erased on the same page; and one around the dedication). $85.00.
