Joseph Frank Plainfield [1909-1969] was an Italian-born Catholic who converted to the Baptist faith and became a missionary to Italians in America under the American Baptist Home Mission Society and the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. This is the author's only published book, dealing with the treatment and importance of immigrants in the United States. Plainfield's papers are collected at Furman University in Greenville, SC. Inscribed by Plainfield in ink on the title page: "J. Plainfield. Rom. 1:16." With the ink name: "Mrs. June Lipscomb" at the top of the title page. Rare!
