Autograph Quotation Signed

1882. Item #399

ARTHUR, T.S. Autograph Quotation Signed. On a small slip of paper, dated Philadelphia, Pa, November 11, 1882. An autograph quotation signed: "`Wisdom divine! Who tells the price/ of wisdom's costly merchandise?/ Wisdom to silver one prefers/ And gold is [unknown word] compared to her.' An external change; a robbery; no commercial disaster can touch this wealth. It is ours in spite of all that man can do. T.S. Arthur." With a 6-inch by 10-inch sheet containing a nice steel-engraving of Arthur. Both would look nice matted and framed. Autograph material by T[imothy] S[hay] Arthur, best known for his novel "Ten Nights In a Barroom And What I Saw There," is uncommon. Very Good (moderate browning & discoloration edges, mounting traces on verso). $185.00.

Price: $185.00
