Chicago: Forbes & Company, 1917. Preface By The Author. First Edition. [The copyright date is 1916 but the title page has a 1917 date. According to the only reference I have citing this title, the 1917 dates appears to be the first edition]. Signed inscription from Gillilan on the front endpaper: “With the most cordial regard- Strickland Gillilan. ’17.” Strickland Gillilan [1869–1954] was an American poet and humorist. He is most famous for the poem “The Reading Mother” which remains a common sentiment on Mother's Day. He is also recognized as the author of “Lines on the Antiquity of Microbes,” said to be the shortest poem ever written: “Adam had ‘em.”. 12mo., decorative light-green cloth, stamped in dark-green and light pink; 191 pages.
