NY/Cincinnati: Eaton & Mains, [1905]. First Edition. Signed presentation from Lucas on the front endpaper: “To My Friend, The Rev. E.C. Dutcher, DD., A.H. Lucas. Aug. 29, 1912.” Lucas [1863-1926] was a member of the Newark Methodist Conference. Dutcher was a Jersey City-based pastor. First United Methodist Episcopal Church of Montclair is one of the first founded churches in Montclair. Founded in 1827, the church moved to its current location in 1879 and the building was completed in 1902. The church, registered as a national historic building, has a unique architectural style with the octagonal dome. The church was home to Nobel Peace Prize winner and long-serving leader of the national Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and the World Student Christian Federation, John R. Mott [1865-1955].
