DOUBLE DISCOVERY: A JOURNEY.

NY: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, [1980]. First Edition, first printing. Very wonderful and interesting signed presentation from West on the front endpaper: “For Eddie, with loving memories of Hannah and Harold, of his father, Frank who was my Sunday School teacher. Let us meet again as the Milhauses have done for years before us- and be thankful for all that came to us from them. With love and happy days to come, Jessamyn. July 22, 1980.” The presentation is to Edward Milhous Nixon, youngest brother of President Richard Milhous Nixon. Hannah refers to Nixon’s mother and Harold refers to his older brother, who died when he was only 24 years old. Frank is President Nixon’s father- who was a Quaker. Obviously, West and the family had a close relationship- all living in Yorba Linda, California. The presentation is, obviously, after Nixon resigned the Presidency in 1974. A great association copy!! 8vo., cloth & boards in dust jacket; 273 pages. Item #57098
