Signed presentation from Patterson on a front black page: “To Mr. Wm. C. Freeman with gratitude and as much affection as Mrs. Freeman will permit. Ada Patterson. Christmas, 1903.” Ada Patterson [1867–1939] was an American print journalist. Patterson wrote for the St. Louis Republican, where she was dubbed "the Nellie Bly of the West". She also wrote for other newspapers, covering a number of notable murder trials. She also wrote a column in Theatre Magazine. Victory Bateman [1865–1926] was an American silent film actress. Patterson’s signature is uncommon! Small 8vo., decorative red cloth, stamped in gilt and with a small, oval photographic image on the front cover, top edge gilt. Item #57202
