While a student in Germany, he served for five years as German-speaking minister of the Christliche Gemeinde (Christian Congregation). He often makes presentations to the annual meetings of the academy and reviews German works on homiletics for its journal, Homiletic. He is also a member of Societas Homiletica, the Society of Biblical Literature and the Frederick B.
