With lengthy notes (about 75 words in pencil) by Wheelock on the rear endpaper, relative to receiving an award in the name of Torrence. Wheelock also notes two poems from the book that he wishes to use in his speech. Torrence was instrumental in founding American Negro theatre in the early 20th century.
